I made it!!!
23rd May Posted by Magidah Wear on May 23, 2009 in Where I'm Going Third time is the charm -- I will be performing tomorrow in the finals of the Belly Dancer of the Year competition!! The "naked dress" was mostly a hit, although one judge didn't like it because it looked like I was naked. That is what a mesh dress with a nude liner is supposed to do.....so I guess it worked a little too well. Thanks Emily!
A Brave New Location
18th May Posted by Magidah Wear on May 18, 2009 in Where I'm Going Well, for those of you who don't yet know.....I'm currently looking for a new space to put studio, retail and community performance outlets. I have been renting space in a vintage warehouse in NW Portland, but the group I rent through is losing their collective lease and I am looking at this as an opportunity to find a perfect space. With the help of my sister-in-law and another fellow dancer, we will create a gathering space where women can be themselves and love themselves and their bodies. I looked at three potential places today, and one felt really good but has posts in the middle of the space that make it difficult to divide up into two studio spaces. The other has lots of possibilities hanging around it but would need *lots* of work. The landlord hasn't made any improvements for almost 20 years and wants to upgrade, but didn't want to re-do everything just to have the next tenant need something completely different. Who knows?? Maybe we'll be able to use that to our advantage......Further updates as warranted. |
